Described as a true “Bühnentier” (“stage beast”) by Musik Theater, and praised for “a voluptuous timbre and virtuoso coloratura” (Diapason), French soprano Julie Fuchs has established herself as one of the most exciting lyric artists of her generation.
Winner of three Victoires de la Musique awards (including Lyric Artist of the Year in 2021), second prize in the Operalia competition in 2013, and made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, she performs a wide repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, with a predilection for Mozart and bel canto heroines.
Julie Fuchs has performed major roles on the greatest international stages, including: Opéra national de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, San Francisco Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Opéra Comique, Rossini Opera Festival, Teatro San Carlo, and on tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski. In recital, her latest solo tour, Both Sides Now, with pianist Alphonse Cemin, took her from Wigmore Hall in London to the Al Bustan Festival in Lebanon, via Paris, Athens, Zurich, Barcelona, Strasbourg, Lille, Antwerp, and Avignon.
For the 2025-26 season, Julie Fuchs will sing Marie in La fille du Régiment at La Scala in Milan and Edwige in Robinson Crusoe at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. She will also perform at the Theater an der Wien, the Paris Opera, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Vienna Konzerthaus for the “Christmas in Vienna” concert.
Her next album, an original concept based on Satie, will be released in November 2025.
An exclusive artist on the Sony Classical label, Julie Fuchs has released an album entirely dedicated to Mozart, Amadè, in November 2022.
As patron of the Paris Opera Competition, Julie actively supports the young generation of opera artists through this competition as well as her Opera is Open initiative.
By creating the first edition of the “Nos jours heureux” Festival in August 2025 in the heart of the Gard Provençal region, Julie Fuchs aims to bring classical music into dialogue with other artistic forms (Argentine tango in this case), in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
